On the weekend of 27–29 March 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the Chemnitz Linux Days for the third time. This year it felt like coming home, and I enjoyed every second — meeting friends, attending sessions, and talking to like-minded people. Around 3,800 visitors attended the conference over the two days.
Live Talks #
Please be aware the talks were mainly in German!
- Freie Bildung – Diagramme textbasiert — Introduction to text-based diagrams like Mermaid and PlantUML.
- Mit Linux an der Schule zur digitalen Mündigkeit? — A very interesting story about the school network and devices at a Gymnasium in Baden-Württemberg. I really appreciate the work and am glad that some schools operate without M365.
- Chaos überwinden mit Typst — Introduction to Typst. I used Typst for my own slides and liked the results with its minimal syntax.
- Der eigene Blog mit Hugo – Ein Praxisbeispiel — This session made me think about redesigning my blog. I hope I’ll find time to do it.
- Von der Idee zum (Fach-)Buch — Dirk walked through the pros and cons of writing books.
Recorded Sessions #
Some interesting sessions I missed and watched afterwards on media.ccc.de - clt26:
- Der Kunde lügt immer. Und im Support kann niemand lesen. — Jörg gave a great talk about customers and support agents. The examples made me reflect on my own experience and motivated me to write even more in the future.
- Freitagnachmittag: Zeit für ein Deployment! — I usually avoid Friday deployments, mainly due to the many manual steps involved and the absence of specialist teams (Network, Database, Firewall, Load Balancer) in customer environments over the weekend.
- Richtig schlecht über Technik schreiben — A great selection of patterns to avoid in documentation, wikis, and articles.
- Ansible Filter 101: Wie Filter die Arbeit erleichtern — Filters are really useful in Ansible, and this talk is a quick primer on how to get started with them.
My Contribution #
This year I explored the lesser-known options of curl and demonstrated, for example, how to use it to send and receive emails, test TLS protocols, and check name-based routing in Kubernetes Ingress.

Conclusion #
I came away with a lot of new ideas, and my curiosity for testing new products and versions got a big boost. My Easter vacation started with the Linux Days this year, so I can carry that energy even longer.
